Twin Cities Jewish Community Annual Conference on Mental Health

The 23rd Annual Twin Cities Jewish Community Mental Health Education Conference was held on Sunday, October 22, 2023. The keynote speaker was Sophie Riegel, a recent Duke University graduate, author, speaker, coach, and mental health advocate. She is the author of “Don’t Tell Me To Relax: One Teen’s Journey to Survive Anxiety (and How You Can, Too),” “Overcoming Overthinking: 36 Ways to Tame Anxiety for Work, School, and Life,” and “Go To Help: 31 Strategies to Offer, Ask For, and Accept Help.” She speaks all over the country to share her message about mental health and has worked with large corporations, including Netflix, Nielsen, and Audible, as well as local organizations and schools.

Breakout sessions this year focused on youth and parents, navigating healthcare, harm reduction, aging and mental health, and LGBTQ mentorship to name a few.

Bi-Annual Caregivers Conference: Keeping the Spirit Alive

This half day conference for caregivers and those supporting a loved one with dementia will be held in the spring of 2025.

Keeping the Spirit Alive, the conference for caregivers supporting a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia, is designed to support caregivers and let them know that they are not alone on their journey. This free conference is designed for caregivers, family members, lay leaders, clergy and professionals and provides practical approaches for caregiving, tactics to take care of the caregiver, plus educational and research updates about dementia, through a Jewish lens. The conference also provides information about community resources that are available.

JFCS in partnership with Jewish Family Service of St. Paul hosts the bi-annual conference. Look for more information in the winter of 2025.
